Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Travel & Leisure and General Retailers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Sage Group PLC (LON:SGE), which rose 7.33% or 55.40 points to trade at 811.20 at the close. BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES) added 4.22% or 31.20 points to end at 769.80 and Experian PLC (LON:EXPN) was up 2.56% or 73.00 points to 2,924.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which lost 13.80% or 116.40 points to trade at 727.40 in late trade. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) declined 6.22% or 25.90 points to end at 390.80 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) shed 5.74% or 44.20 points to 726.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1263 to 547 and 463 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.00% or 0.05 to $1,776.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.11% or 1.83 to hit $85.09 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.54% or 1.45 to trade at $92.41 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.30% to 1.19, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 106.33.
