Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech, Fixed Line Telecommunications and General Retailers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH), which rose 3.33% or 66.00 points to trade at 2,047.00 at the close. AVEVA Group PLC (LON:AVV) added 3.24% or 77.00 points to end at 2,452.00 and Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) was up 2.47% or 226.00 points to 9,382.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included GSK plc (LON:GSK), which lost 10.06% or 156.60 points to trade at 1,400.00 in late trade. Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) declined 3.74% or 187.00 points to end at 4,816.00 and AstraZeneca PLC (LON:AZN) shed 2.88% or 312.00 points to 10,506.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1081 to 717 and 480 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.44% or 8.05 to $1,805.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.76% or 2.54 to hit $94.47 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 2.36% or 2.30 to trade at $99.70 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.22, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.38% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 104.91.
