Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Healthcare Equipment & Services and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY), which rose 2.41% or 6.00 points to trade at 254.70 at the close. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) added 2.06% or 45.00 points to end at 2226.00 and B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB) was up 1.79% or 10.00 points to 568.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON), which lost 4.61% or 8.25 points to trade at 170.60 in late trade. Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) declined 3.35% or 525.0 points to end at 15160.0 and Bank VTB PAO DRC (LON:VTBRq) shed 2.98% or 0.036 points to 1.170.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1228 to 1054 and 183 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.49% or 8.65 to $1771.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.40% or 0.25 to hit $63.44 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.37% or 0.25 to trade at $67.02 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 1.06% to 1.3977, while EUR/GBP fell 0.58% to 0.8608.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.48% at 91.102.
