Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Automobiles & Parts and Gas, Water & Multiutilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV), which rose 5.17% or 30.20 points to trade at 614.40 at the close. Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RB) added 2.52% or 162.00 points to end at 6590.00 and DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS) was up 1.98% or 6.90 points to 355.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 6.17% or 75.00 points to trade at 1140.00 in late trade. Just Eat (LON:JE) declined 2.25% or 14.40 points to end at 626.80 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) shed 1.91% or 5.15 points to 265.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1117 to 994 and 226 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.20% or 2.85 to $1409.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $60.39 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.45% or 0.30 to trade at $66.71 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.13% to 1.2515, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.8992.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 96.708.
