Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs, Real Estate and Chemicals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which rose 6.12% or 43.00 points to trade at 745.40 at the close. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) added 5.91% or 31.40 points to end at 562.40 and Ferguson Plc (LON:FERG) was up 3.60% or 395.00 points to 11,380.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 4.14% or 20.50 points to trade at 475.00 in late trade. Land Securities Group PLC (LON:LAND) declined 3.18% or 21.20 points to end at 644.60 and DCC plc (LON:DCC) shed 3.10% or 151.00 points to 4,714.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 966 to 812 and 474 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.46% or 9.30 to $2,042.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.79% or 0.58 to hit $72.58 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.99% or 0.76 to trade at $76.25 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.01% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.39% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 101.47.
