Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrial Transportation, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Media sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Barclays PLC (LON:BARC), which rose 5.32% or 8.18 points to trade at 162.04 at the close. Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) added 3.98% or 44.50 points to end at 1,163.00 and BT Group PLC (LON:BT) was up 3.09% or 4.75 points to 158.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Legal & General Group PLC (LON:LGEN), which lost 7.12% or 18.00 points to trade at 235.00 in late trade. WPP PLC (LON:WPP) declined 4.26% or 40.80 points to end at 916.20 and St. James’s Place PLC (LON:SJP) shed 3.71% or 46.00 points to 1,193.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 919 to 865 and 485 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.07% or 1.35 to $1,997.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.94% or 0.70 to hit $75.00 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.82% or 0.64 to trade at $78.36 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.04% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.25% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 101.34.
