Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financial Services, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Croda International PLC (LON:CRDA), which rose 3.37% or 162.00 points to trade at 4,967.00 at the close. Diploma PLC (LON:DPLM) added 2.45% or 80.00 points to end at 3,340.00 and Shell PLC (LON:SHEL) was up 2.41% or 59.00 points to 2,506.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 5.56% or 30.40 points to trade at 516.20 in late trade. 3I Group PLC (LON:III) declined 5.16% or 128.00 points to end at 2,351.00 and BT Group PLC (LON:BT) shed 2.85% or 3.20 points to 109.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1180 to 683 and 595 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.60% or 12.50 to $2,079.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.19% or 0.90 to hit $76.75 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.10% or 0.89 to trade at $81.44 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.37% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 102.88.
