Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Mobile Telecommunications, Automobiles & Parts and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which rose 4.25% or 34.40 points to trade at 843.80 at the close. Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) added 3.38% or 2.82 points to end at 86.28 and Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON) was up 3.30% or 4.20 points to 131.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 16.79% or 155.40 points to trade at 770.20 in late trade. Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) declined 7.94% or 8.27 points to end at 95.89 and Abrdn PLC (LON:ABDN) shed 3.66% or 7.50 points to 197.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1001 to 808 and 508 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.23% or 4.05 to $1,772.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.32% or 1.13 to hit $87.00 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.08% or 1.01 to trade at $94.15 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 1.05% to 1.19, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.51% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 106.26.
