Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Electronic & Electrical Equipment and Aerospace & Defense sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 3.28% or 17.40 points to trade at 548.20 at the close. Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) added 2.98% or 2.43 points to end at 84.08 and British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) was up 2.61% or 9.30 points to 365.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB), which lost 4.96% or 24.30 points to trade at 465.70 in late trade. Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) declined 3.13% or 73.00 points to end at 2,258.00 and Halma PLC (LON:HLMA) shed 3.06% or 75.00 points to 2,380.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 993 to 758 and 470 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.14% or 2.70 to $1,974.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.01% or 1.45 to hit $73.50 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.80% or 1.37 to trade at $77.36 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.12% to 1.24, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.25% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.32% at 103.40.
