Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were AVEVA Group PLC (LON:AVV), which rose 26.87% or 589.00 points to trade at 2,781.00 at the close. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) added 3.91% or 28.00 points to end at 744.80 and Bunzl PLC (LON:BNZL) was up 2.62% or 80.00 points to 3,133.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centrica PLC (LON:CNA), which lost 2.66% or 2.24 points to trade at 82.10 in late trade. Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) declined 2.50% or 23.80 points to end at 930.00 and Land Securities Group PLC (LON:LAND) shed 2.49% or 17.00 points to 666.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 930 to 841 and 505 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.11% or 1.85 to $1,763.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.75% or 0.70 to hit $94.44 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.48% or 0.48 to trade at $100.70 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.36% to 1.18, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.31% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 108.64.
