Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Industrial Metals & Mining and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON), which rose 2.61% or 13.80 points to trade at 543.20 at the close. Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) added 2.33% or 49.00 points to end at 2,149.00 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) was up 1.45% or 3.00 points to 209.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT), which lost 2.23% or 15.80 points to trade at 693.60 in late trade. B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB) declined 2.02% or 11.00 points to end at 533.60 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) shed 1.87% or 42.00 points to 2,200.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 950 to 645 and 556 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.35% or 6.95 to $1,969.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.71% or 0.59 to hit $82.23 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.72% or 0.62 to trade at $85.62 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.18% to 1.28, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.34% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 101.93.
