Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Tobacco, Automobiles & Parts and Gas, Water & Multiutilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.16% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Old Mutual Ltd (LON:OMU), which rose 8.15% or 8.78 points to trade at 116.52 at the close. Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) added 5.33% or 26.00 points to end at 513.80 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) was up 4.46% or 37.40 points to 876.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB), which lost 6.03% or 161.50 points to trade at 2516.50 in late trade. British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS) declined 3.91% or 133.00 points to end at 3272.00 and United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU) shed 2.41% or 17.00 points to 687.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1324 to 828 and 250 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.54% or 6.60 to $1221.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.07% or 0.05 to hit $70.92 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.70% or 0.56 to trade at $79.70 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.58% to 1.3156, while EUR/GBP rose 0.30% to 0.8788.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 94.92.
