Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Oil & Gas Producers and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Segro Plc (LON:SGRO), which rose 3.59% or 30.00 points to trade at 866.20 at the close. Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) added 2.96% or 58.50 points to end at 2,037.00 and Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) was up 2.61% or 350.00 points to 13,745.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NatWest Group PLC (LON:NWG), which lost 6.87% or 21.00 points to trade at 284.60 in late trade. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) declined 4.20% or 37.20 points to end at 848.20 and Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:LLOY) shed 3.84% or 2.03 points to 50.91.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1056 to 711 and 519 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.01% or 0.25 to $1,851.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 3.75% or 2.94 to hit $75.55 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 3.46% or 2.95 to trade at $82.19 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.31% to 1.20, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.89.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 103.88.
