Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Electrical and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were ITV PLC (LON:ITV), which rose 3.26% or 3.40 points to trade at 107.65 at the close. Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) added 1.63% or 5.85 points to end at 365.25 and Barclays PLC (LON:BARC) was up 1.49% or 2.97 points to 202.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NatWest Group PLC (LON:NWG), which lost 4.45% or 10.30 points to trade at 221.10 in late trade. Sberbank Of Russia (LON:SBNCyq) declined 3.42% or 0.71 points to end at 20.02 and Bank VTB PAO DRC (LON:VTBRq) shed 2.93% or 0.044 points to 1.456.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1128 to 849 and 458 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.34% or 24.15 to $1778.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.46% or 0.38 to hit $83.19 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.27% or 0.23 to trade at $83.89 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.77% to 1.3683, while EUR/GBP fell 0.40% to 0.8436.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.00% at 94.255.
