Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrial Transportation, Household Goods & Home Construction and General Retailers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Centrica PLC (LON:CNA), which rose 3.65% or 2.50 points to trade at 70.94 at the close. BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES) added 3.37% or 27.60 points to end at 846.20 and Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) was up 2.42% or 47.00 points to 1,991.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 5.78% or 26.50 points to trade at 432.10 in late trade. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) declined 5.57% or 31.00 points to end at 526.00 and Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW) shed 3.85% or 3.58 points to 89.44.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1271 to 514 and 445 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.71% or 12.15 to $1,708.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 4.58% or 4.05 to hit $92.50 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 4.00% or 3.78 to trade at $98.20 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.55% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.33% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.23% at 112.44.
