Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Berkeley Group Holdings PLC (LON:BKGH), which rose 2.02% or 90.0 points to trade at 4549.0 at the close. DCC plc (LON:DCC) added 1.77% or 100.0 points to end at 5742.0 and Abrdn PLC (LON:ABDN) was up 1.70% or 3.90 points to 233.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 3.19% or 53.50 points to trade at 1626.50 in late trade. Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) declined 3.02% or 142.5 points to end at 4578.5 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) shed 2.96% or 83.0 points to 2717.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1139 to 831 and 485 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.09% or 19.20 to $1781.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.84% or 0.56 to hit $67.06 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.33% or 0.93 to trade at $70.60 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.59% to 1.3227, while EUR/GBP rose 0.67% to 0.8545.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 96.207.
