Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Beverage, Automobiles & Parts and Pharmaceuticals & Biotech sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN), which rose 4.54% or 86.50 points to trade at 1989.50 at the close. DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS) added 3.23% or 11.50 points to end at 367.00 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 2.80% or 27.00 points to 991.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Just Eat (LON:JE), which lost 2.36% or 14.80 points to trade at 612.00 in late trade. Hiscox Ltd (LON:HSX) declined 2.12% or 37.00 points to end at 1707.00 and DCC plc (LON:DCC) shed 1.47% or 102.0 points to 6840.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1154 to 961 and 248 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.41% or 5.75 to $1412.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.30% or 0.18 to hit $60.38 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.47% or 0.31 to trade at $66.83 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.36% to 1.2565, while EUR/GBP fell 0.23% to 0.8966.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 96.472.
