Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Mobile Telecommunications, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 3.66% or 21.50 points to trade at 609.50 at the close. Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:JMAT) added 2.77% or 43.50 points to end at 1,614.00 and Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT) was up 2.45% or 65.00 points to 2,721.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD), which lost 3.31% or 2.39 points to trade at 69.80 in late trade. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) declined 2.35% or 3.80 points to end at 158.10 and Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) shed 2.18% or 33.00 points to 1,481.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 908 to 682 and 517 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.43% or 8.75 to $2,039.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $69.36 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.24% or 0.18 to trade at $74.12 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.09% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.41% at 103.68.
