Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Chemicals, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 4.45% or 94.00 points to trade at 2,205.00 at the close. Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RKT) added 2.92% or 124.00 points to end at 4,374.00 and Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) was up 2.50% or 133.00 points to 5,450.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Croda International PLC (LON:CRDA), which lost 4.79% or 234.00 points to trade at 4,654.00 in late trade. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) declined 3.49% or 13.20 points to end at 364.60 and Entain PLC (LON:ENT) shed 3.31% or 28.00 points to 818.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 938 to 794 and 692 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.21% or 4.95 to $2,337.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.54% or 0.45 to hit $82.91 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.40% or 0.35 to trade at $88.07 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 1.24, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 105.74.
