Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Mobile Telecommunications, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Life Insurance/Assurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 9.98% or 49.80 points to trade at 548.60 at the close. RS Group PLC (LON:RS1R) added 2.76% or 21.20 points to end at 788.60 and WPP PLC (LON:WPP) was up 1.56% or 12.00 points to 780.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Airtel Africa Plc (LON:AAF), which lost 3.91% or 4.90 points to trade at 120.50 in late trade. Schroders PLC (LON:SDR) declined 3.72% or 15.80 points to end at 409.20 and St. James’s Place PLC (LON:SJP) shed 3.55% or 23.80 points to 647.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1158 to 944 and 347 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.43% or 8.75 to $2,044.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.10% or 0.86 to hit $77.15 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.96% or 0.80 to trade at $82.15 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.17% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.19% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 103.52.
