Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Beverage and Industrial Engineering sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Bank VTB PAO DRC (LON:VTBRq), which rose 10.25% or 0.114 points to trade at 1.226 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 3.67% or 23.60 points to end at 666.40 and NK Rosneft PAO DRC (LON:ROSNq) was up 2.38% or 0.18 points to 7.91 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Diageo PLC (LON:DGE), which lost 2.05% or 75.5 points to trade at 3605.0 in late trade. Compass Group PLC (LON:CPG) declined 1.96% or 35.50 points to end at 1779.00 and Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV) shed 1.54% or 9.80 points to 628.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 983 to 884 and 514 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.83% or 15.35 to $1871.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.10% or 1.93 to hit $94.00 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.99% or 1.86 to trade at $95.14 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.38% to 1.3585, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.8373.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 95.808.
