Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Pharmaceuticals & Biotech and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 23.68% or 25.48 points to trade at 133.10 at the close. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) added 4.34% or 6.88 points to end at 165.44 and WPP PLC (LON:WPP) was up 3.44% or 35.00 points to 1,051.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which lost 5.47% or 91.50 points to trade at 1,582.50 in late trade. Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI) declined 4.81% or 71.00 points to end at 1,406.50 and BT Group PLC (LON:BT) shed 2.59% or 3.65 points to 137.20.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1070 to 718 and 456 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.73% or 13.45 to $1,828.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.88% or 1.39 to hit $75.34 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.80% or 1.45 to trade at $82.05 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.33% to 1.20, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.23% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 104.65.
