Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Electrical and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 4.25% or 54.00 points to trade at 1325.50 at the close. Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF) added 3.83% or 8.40 points to end at 228.00 and Marks and Spencer Group PLC (LON:MKS) was up 2.49% or 5.30 points to 218.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC), which lost 10.59% or 177.00 points to trade at 1494.50 in late trade. Standard Life Aberdeen PLC (LON:SLA) declined 3.35% or 10.90 points to end at 314.40 and Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO) shed 2.23% or 10.10 points to 442.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1260 to 864 and 229 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.23% or 3.65 to $1572.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.09% or 0.69 to hit $62.58 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.20% or 0.83 to trade at $68.08 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.26% to 1.3133, while EUR/GBP fell 0.20% to 0.8485.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.36% at 96.700.
