Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Insurance and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which rose 5.72% or 44.40 points to trade at 821.20 at the close. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) added 4.48% or 23.60 points to end at 550.20 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 4.19% or 20.30 points to 505.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bunzl PLC (LON:BNZL), which lost 2.20% or 66.00 points to trade at 2,939.00 in late trade. Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) declined 1.86% or 40.00 points to end at 2,111.00 and Land Securities Group PLC (LON:LAND) shed 1.40% or 9.40 points to 661.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1160 to 646 and 463 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.74% or 13.65 to $1,854.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.82% or 1.42 to hit $79.58 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 1.24% or 1.05 to trade at $85.80 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.62% to 1.20, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.33% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.34% at 104.64.
