Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Household Goods & Home Construction, Food Producers and Pharmaceuticals & Biotech sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Provident Financial (LON:PFG), which rose 4.94% or 44.00 points to trade at 935.00 at the close. Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) added 3.12% or 23.40 points to end at 772.10 and RSA Insurance Group PLC (LON:RSA) was up 2.40% or 15.00 points to 641.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which lost 3.60% or 51.00 points to trade at 1367.00 in late trade. Unilever PLC (LON:ULVR) declined 3.21% or 138.00 points to end at 4161.00 and Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RB) shed 2.65% or 180.00 points to 6610.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1085 to 850 and 432 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.55% or 7.12 to $1282.88 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $51.28 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.05% or 0.03 to trade at $57.26 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.26% to 1.3193, while EUR/GBP fell 0.87% to 0.8929.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.57% at 93.53.
