Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Travel & Leisure and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS), which rose 10.23% or 36.80 points to trade at 396.60 at the close. Diploma PLC (LON:DPLM) added 9.46% or 324.00 points to end at 3,750.00 and Endeavour Mining PLC (LON:EDV) was up 5.26% or 79.00 points to 1,581.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF), which lost 8.31% or 1,420.00 points to trade at 15,675.00 in late trade. St. James's Place PLC (LON:SJP) declined 2.35% or 10.90 points to end at 452.30 and Pershing Square Holdings Ltd (AS:PSH) shed 2.29% or 1.20 points to 51.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 989 to 782 and 679 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.69% or 15.10 to $2,192.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.53% or 0.43 to hit $81.19 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.49% or 0.42 to trade at $85.21 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.04% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.10% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 104.07.
