Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech, Healthcare Equipment & Services and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 5.95% or 33.80 points to trade at 601.80 at the close. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) added 4.93% or 27.50 points to end at 585.00 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was up 4.32% or 96.50 points to 2,329.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AstraZeneca PLC (LON:AZN), which lost 8.00% or 902.00 points to trade at 10,374.00 in late trade. Smith & Nephew PLC (LON:SN) declined 5.76% or 73.00 points to end at 1,195.00 and Halma PLC (LON:HLMA) shed 2.20% or 50.00 points to 2,227.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 947 to 702 and 499 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.01% or 0.15 to $1,929.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.62% or 0.44 to hit $70.20 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.50% or 0.38 to trade at $75.03 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.07% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 102.63.
