Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Mobile Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Abrdn PLC (LON:ABDN), which rose 1.93% or 3.90 points to trade at 206.20 at the close. British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) added 1.22% or 4.70 points to end at 388.80 and Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF) was up 1.17% or 24.00 points to 2,070.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 2.13% or 11.00 points to trade at 505.80 in late trade. Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT) declined 1.83% or 11.80 points to end at 632.80 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) shed 1.60% or 12.20 points to 748.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 933 to 827 and 514 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.42% or 8.35 to $1,998.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.07% or 0.83 to hit $78.70 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.18% or 0.96 to trade at $82.42 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.31% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.16% to 0.89.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.38% at 101.17.
