Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the General Retailers, Mobile Telecommunications and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were GMK Norilskiy Nikel PAO DRC (LON:NKELyq), which rose 492.81% or 9.31 points to trade at 11.20 at the close. Compass Group PLC (LON:CPG) added 3.33% or 61.50 points to end at 1,906.50 and Unilever PLC (LON:ULVR) was up 2.95% or 115.50 points to 4,032.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD), which lost 5.16% or 6.66 points to trade at 122.36 in late trade. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) declined 4.63% or 4.26 points to end at 87.69 and Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) shed 4.26% or 35.80 points to 804.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1139 to 677 and 460 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.13% or 2.25 to $1,716.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.96% or 0.93 to hit $95.77 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.21% or 0.21 to trade at $99.98 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.11% to 1.20, while EUR/GBP fell 0.72% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.57% at 106.96.
