Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Travel & Leisure, Automobiles & Parts and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Centrica PLC (LON:CNA), which rose 3.42% or 2.74 points to trade at 82.82 at the close. SSE PLC (LON:SSE) added 3.10% or 52.50 points to end at 1,746.00 and Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT) was up 2.19% or 60.00 points to 2,797.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which lost 7.13% or 49.20 points to trade at 640.80 in late trade. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) declined 5.85% or 6.44 points to end at 103.68 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) shed 5.28% or 7.20 points to 129.15.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1109 to 686 and 451 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.45% or 7.85 to $1,734.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.57% or 0.60 to hit $104.19 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.06% or 0.06 to trade at $106.96 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 1.10% to 1.19, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.89% at 107.77.
