Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Travel & Leisure, Life Insurance/Assurance and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 2.54%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF), which rose 9.24% or 896.00 points to trade at 10,590.00 at the close. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) added 9.01% or 9.50 points to end at 114.95 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) was up 8.87% or 41.30 points to 507.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which lost 1.44% or 19.50 points to trade at 1,338.00 in late trade. Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) declined 0.92% or 0.66 points to end at 71.40 and SSE PLC (LON:SSE) shed 0.83% or 13.00 points to 1,560.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1492 to 365 and 414 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.62% or 27.65 to $1,729.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 3.17% or 2.65 to hit $86.28 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.96% or 2.63 to trade at $91.49 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.99% to 1.14, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.50% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.15% at 110.37.
