Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Mobile Telecommunications, Oil & Gas Producers and Aerospace & Defense sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 2.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were DCC plc (LON:DCC), which rose 3.31% or 208.0 points to trade at 6482.0 at the close. BT Group PLC (LON:BT) added 3.06% or 5.55 points to end at 186.60 and Phoenix Group Holdings PLC (LON:PHNX) was up 2.25% or 15.40 points to 701.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sberbank Of Russia (LON:SBNCyq), which lost 9.92% or 1.35 points to trade at 12.21 in late trade. NK Rosneft PAO DRC (LON:ROSNq) declined 9.13% or 0.71 points to end at 7.05 and GMK Norilskiy Nikel PAO DRC (LON:NKELyq) shed 5.83% or 1.67 points to 26.97.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1392 to 570 and 442 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.26% or 4.65 to $1811.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.34% or 1.12 to hit $84.42 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.74% or 0.64 to trade at $87.12 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.49% to 1.3578, while EUR/GBP fell 0.23% to 0.8338.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.66% at 95.790.
