Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Construction & Materials and General Industrial sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 2.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Barclays PLC (LON:BARC), which rose 5.41% or 11.25 points to trade at 219.20 at the close. CRH PLC (LON:CRH) added 5.35% or 145.00 points to end at 2854.00 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) was up 4.98% or 27.00 points to 569.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centrica PLC (LON:CNA), which lost 3.52% or 7.30 points to trade at 200.40 in late trade. SSE PLC (LON:SSE) declined 1.94% or 28.00 points to end at 1417.00 and Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) shed 1.41% or 100.00 points to 6970.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1469 to 459 and 461 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.01% or 13.02 to $1276.08 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.64% or 0.32 to hit $49.30 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.46% or 0.24 to trade at $52.20 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.34% to 1.2782, while EUR/GBP rose 1.41% to 0.8488.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.63% at 99.03.
