Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Construction & Materials and Electrical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.92% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 7.74% or 162.50 points to trade at 2,262.50 at the close. Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) added 4.73% or 236.00 points to end at 5,221.00 and BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB) was up 4.70% or 106.00 points to 2,361.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which lost 1.59% or 7.20 points to trade at 446.90 in late trade. Smith & Nephew PLC (LON:SN) declined 0.84% or 9.00 points to end at 1,059.00 and Next PLC (LON:NXT) shed 0.61% or 44.00 points to 7,134.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1106 to 557 and 455 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.02% or 0.35 to $1,932.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.06% or 1.82 to hit $90.34 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 2.04% or 1.87 to trade at $93.75 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.62% to 1.24, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.12% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.54% at 104.96.
