Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Healthcare Equipment & Services, Life Insurance/Assurance and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.89%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Abrdn PLC (LON:ABDN), which rose 7.45% or 10.55 points to trade at 152.10 at the close. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) added 7.10% or 48.40 points to end at 730.40 and Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) was up 6.24% or 55.00 points to 936.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Berkeley Group Holdings PLC (LON:BKGH), which lost 2.70% or 97.00 points to trade at 3,492.00 in late trade. Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) declined 1.91% or 28.00 points to end at 1,442.00 and Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) shed 1.23% or 5.10 points to 410.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1229 to 575 and 473 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.93% or 15.85 to $1,725.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.10% or 0.95 to hit $87.56 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.48% or 1.37 to trade at $93.73 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.21% to 1.15, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.45% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 109.53.
