Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Financial Services, Mobile Telecommunications and Pharmaceuticals & Biotech sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 1.84% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Just Eat (LON:JE), which rose 22.72% or 144.40 points to trade at 780.00 at the close. London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSE) added 15.34% or 870.00 points to end at 6542.00 and Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) was up 4.27% or 6.24 points to 152.24 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which lost 2.81% or 29.00 points to trade at 1001.50 in late trade. DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS) declined 1.68% or 6.30 points to end at 369.20 and Sage Group PLC (LON:SGE) shed 0.92% or 6.80 points to 735.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1180 to 999 and 192 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.10% or 1.35 to $1420.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.94% or 0.53 to hit $56.73 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.28% or 0.18 to trade at $63.55 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 1.25% to 1.2226, while EUR/GBP rose 1.46% to 0.9113.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 97.822.
