Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Mobile Telecommunications and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.64% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which rose 11.29% or 122.0 points to trade at 1203.0 at the close. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) added 9.84% or 9.22 points to end at 102.92 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) was up 9.90% or 14.31 points to 158.91 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 3.69% or 84.20 points to trade at 2198.80 in late trade. Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO) declined 3.39% or 18.40 points to end at 524.00 and Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) shed 2.71% or 365.0 points to 13105.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1646 to 700 and 59 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.18% or 3.40 to $1889.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 3.41% or 1.37 to hit $41.50 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 3.23% or 1.38 to trade at $44.16 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.06% to 1.3195, while EUR/GBP rose 0.04% to 0.8973.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 92.615.
