Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Beverage, Chemicals and Mobile Telecommunications sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.48%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Croda International PLC (LON:CRDA), which rose 5.29% or 239.00 points to trade at 4,756.00 at the close. Diageo PLC (LON:DGE) added 5.13% or 139.00 points to end at 2,849.00 and Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) was up 4.93% or 63.00 points to 1,341.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centrica PLC (LON:CNA), which lost 4.58% or 6.60 points to trade at 137.65 in late trade. SSE PLC (LON:SSE) declined 2.36% or 41.00 points to end at 1,698.00 and J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) shed 1.92% or 5.40 points to 276.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1200 to 731 and 522 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.03% or 0.70 to $2,017.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.43% or 1.11 to hit $76.25 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.13% or 0.93 to trade at $81.50 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.05% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.11% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 103.18.
