Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Industrial Metals & Mining and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were HSBC Holdings PLC (LON:HSBA), which rose 5.16% or 31.20 points to trade at 636.20 at the close. Capita PLC (LON:CPI) added 4.91% or 5.90 points to end at 126.15 and Babcock International Group PLC (LON:BAB) was up 4.04% or 23.60 points to 607.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS), which lost 2.15% or 138.00 points to trade at 6278.00 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 1.87% or 17.00 points to end at 892.80 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) shed 1.90% or 16.20 points to 838.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1564 to 684 and 87 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.01% or 0.10 to $1232.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.83% or 0.56 to hit $67.03 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.40% or 0.31 to trade at $77.31 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.22% to 1.2803, while EUR/GBP rose 0.12% to 0.8899.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 96.32.
