Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Life Insurance/Assurance and Household Goods & Home Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 1.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN), which rose 4.73% or 29.80 points to trade at 660.00 at the close. British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) added 4.53% or 15.90 points to end at 367.20 and DCC plc (LON:DCC) was up 3.48% or 180.00 points to 5,348.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES), which lost 0.61% or 6.50 points to trade at 1,055.50 in late trade. Unilever PLC (LON:ULVR) declined 0.51% or 19.50 points to end at 3,816.00 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) shed 0.20% or 0.50 points to 244.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1113 to 512 and 488 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.25% or 5.05 to $1,982.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 3.40% or 2.48 to hit $75.38 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 3.55% or 2.75 to trade at $80.17 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.18% to 1.24, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 103.97.
