Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, General Retailers and Industrial Engineering sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.24% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 38.57% or 182.20 points to trade at 654.60 at the close. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) added 6.06% or 158.00 points to end at 2,766.50 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) was up 4.87% or 24.30 points to 523.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO), which lost 4.30% or 23.40 points to trade at 521.00 in late trade. Experian PLC (LON:EXPN) declined 3.10% or 86.00 points to end at 2,688.00 and Relx PLC (LON:REL) shed 2.26% or 53.00 points to 2,288.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1222 to 620 and 453 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.81% or 13.35 to $1,654.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 2.38% or 2.06 to hit $88.59 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 2.19% or 2.03 to trade at $94.84 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 1.15, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 111.35.
