Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Electrical, Support Services and Industrial Engineering sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 1.22% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were DCC plc (LON:DCC), which rose 4.55% or 250.00 points to trade at 5,745.00 at the close. SSE PLC (LON:SSE) added 4.15% or 71.00 points to end at 1,780.50 and Barclays PLC (LON:BARC) was up 3.95% or 8.00 points to 210.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY), which lost 2.46% or 29.00 points to trade at 1,151.00 in late trade. Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON) declined 2.05% or 12.40 points to end at 591.20 and BP PLC (LON:BP) shed 1.31% or 6.70 points to 503.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1233 to 566 and 619 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.39% or 9.10 to $2,322.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.17% or 0.13 to hit $78.61 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.06% or 0.05 to trade at $83.38 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.22% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.26% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 105.08.
