Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.09% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 7.89% or 169.00 points to trade at 2,311.00 at the close. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) added 6.18% or 87.00 points to end at 1,495.50 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 4.30% or 19.50 points to 472.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tesco PLC (LON:TSCO), which lost 2.17% or 6.20 points to trade at 279.60 in late trade. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) declined 0.97% or 5.80 points to end at 594.20 and Samsung Electronics Co Ltd DRC (LON:0593xq) shed 0.94% or 13.00 points to 1,378.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1062 to 566 and 510 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.11% or 22.70 to $2,060.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.50% or 0.38 to hit $76.34 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.38% or 0.31 to trade at $81.17 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.44% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.54% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 103.25.
