Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs, Real Estate and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 11.99% or 66.80 points to trade at 624.00 at the close. Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) added 4.50% or 96.00 points to end at 2,228.00 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) was up 3.82% or 64.50 points to 1,751.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON), which lost 2.05% or 3.35 points to trade at 160.50 in late trade. Ferguson Plc (LON:FERG) declined 1.68% or 170.00 points to end at 9,930.00 and Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RKT) shed 1.67% or 106.00 points to 6,230.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1075 to 550 and 553 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.49% or 10.05 to $2,025.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.24% or 0.19 to hit $80.42 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.19% or 0.16 to trade at $84.83 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.01% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.29% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 101.49.
