Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Construction & Materials, Automobiles & Parts and Food Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 1.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF), which rose 4.27% or 105.00 points to trade at 2565.00 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 3.56% or 31.00 points to end at 902.00 and CRH PLC (LON:CRH) was up 3.40% or 76.00 points to 2313.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ITV PLC (LON:ITV), which lost 2.75% or 4.25 points to trade at 150.00 in late trade. Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG) declined 1.42% or 5.00 points to end at 348.00 and Direct Line Insurance Group PLC (LON:DLGD) shed 1.27% or 4.10 points to 318.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1383 to 686 and 315 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.42% or 5.10 to $1228.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.96% or 0.60 to hit $61.61 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.31% or 0.22 to trade at $71.91 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.31% to 1.3140, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.8722.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.35% at 95.78.
