Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Transportation, Industrial Engineering and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.08% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were NatWest Group PLC (LON:NWG), which rose 8.09% or 18.60 points to trade at 248.60 at the close. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) added 6.82% or 53.60 points to end at 839.40 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) was up 5.68% or 39.60 points to 737.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS), which lost 4.51% or 152.00 points to trade at 3,220.50 in late trade. Avast PLC (LON:AVST) declined 4.08% or 19.80 points to end at 465.00 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) shed 2.59% or 3.16 points to 118.74.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1310 to 516 and 481 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.63% or 10.95 to $1,761.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.96% or 2.85 to hit $99.27 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 2.40% or 2.44 to trade at $104.27 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.05% to 1.22, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.17% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 105.94.
