Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 1.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which rose 7.23% or 31.30 points to trade at 464.40 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 4.81% or 29.80 points to end at 649.80 and Rosneft (LON:ROSNq) was up 4.70% or 0.28 points to 6.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Barclays PLC (LON:BARC), which lost 2.61% or 3.74 points to trade at 139.56 in late trade. Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) declined 2.28% or 35.50 points to end at 1519.50 and Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) shed 2.22% or 12.20 points to 538.20.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1614 to 564 and 134 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 3.19% or 50.80 to $1645.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.58% or 0.27 to hit $47.02 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.04% or 0.02 to trade at $51.92 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.50% to 1.2814, while EUR/GBP fell 0.22% to 0.8709.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 97.215.
