Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs, Real Estate and Electronic & Electrical Equipment sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.06% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK), which rose 3.66% or 150.00 points to trade at 4,249.00 at the close. Segro Plc (LON:SGRO) added 3.23% or 28.40 points to end at 907.80 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) was up 2.90% or 22.20 points to 789.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NatWest Group PLC (LON:NWG), which lost 0.46% or 1.00 points to trade at 218.00 in late trade. Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV) declined 0.21% or 1.20 points to end at 563.80 and BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB) shed 0.19% or 5.00 points to 2,637.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1163 to 529 and 452 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.19% or 3.85 to $2,048.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.99% or 0.73 to hit $74.67 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.92% or 0.73 to trade at $79.96 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.58% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.36% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 101.94.
