Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Electrical, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Household Goods & Home Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW), which rose 14.68% or 25.55 points to trade at 199.65 at the close. Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) added 14.01% or 94.00 points to end at 765.00 and Berkeley Group Holdings PLC (LON:BKGH) was up 13.99% or 631.00 points to 5142.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which lost 3.05% or 18.00 points to trade at 572.40 in late trade. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) declined 2.56% or 18.00 points to end at 686.40 and NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC) shed 2.53% or 64.00 points to 2464.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1493 to 715 and 167 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.56% or 8.25 to $1480.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.23% or 0.73 to hit $59.91 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.37% or 0.88 to trade at $65.08 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 1.26% to 1.3328, while EUR/GBP fell 1.27% to 0.8344.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 97.180.
