Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Oil & Gas Producers and Mobile Telecommunications sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were BT Group PLC (LON:BT), which rose 6.10% or 9.40 points to trade at 163.40 at the close. Sberbank Of Russia (LON:SBNCyq) added 4.83% or 0.77 points to end at 16.83 and Compass Group PLC (LON:CPG) was up 4.71% or 68.50 points to 1522.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV), which lost 5.63% or 80.00 points to trade at 1341.50 in late trade. Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) declined 2.11% or 48.00 points to end at 2230.00 and J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) shed 1.33% or 3.90 points to 289.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1257 to 779 and 430 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.11% or 1.95 to $1786.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 4.14% or 2.82 to hit $70.97 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 3.58% or 2.56 to trade at $74.15 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.36% to 1.3292, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.8475.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.32% at 96.410.
